Abu Dhabi: Police have arrested another suspect who was caught on video while performing dangerous driving stunts in a European country.
A video showing his stunts on a Mercedes vehicle with a UAE license plate went viral on social media recently.
Another suspect, E.S., a 24-year-old Emirati, was arrested after arriving in Abu Dhabi last week. He was also seen performing dangerous stunts using his UAE-licensed Land Cruiser while on vacation abroad. A video of his stunts became popular on social media.
Arrest warrants were issued for both suspects for endangering lives and for portraying a negative image of the UAE, authorities said.
Local officials said that Emiratis travelling abroad are considered ambassadors to their country and must represent the UAE in the best light, maintaining the highest morals and showing best behaviour.
UAE citizens are also urged to abide by the rules and law of the countries they visit and those who fail to do so will be pursued upon their return, authorities said.
Driving stunts such as drifting and street racing, driving recklessly and driving without a license are punishable in the UAE. Emiratis are prohibited from doing these stunts even when they are travelling abroad.
