Sharjah/Ajman/Ras Al Khaimah/Fujairah: With crowds expected to flock to malls and popular resorts over Eid Al Fitr, the police have comprehensive safety plans in place. These include 24-hour police patrols in some areas and a crackdown on firecrackers.

Major Mohammad Alai Al Naqbi, director of Traffic and Patrol Department at the Sharjah Police, said all efforts are being made to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and a reduction in accidents and violations.

A hundred traffic patrols will be deployed on the emirate’s roads and patrolling will be intensified near shopping areas, mosques, squares and parks, tourist places and highways and traffic awareness campaigns launched to educate community members on safety. Residents going on holidays are also being told to burglar-proof their home.

Patrols will also be deployed in residential areas to prevent children from using firecrackers, and inspections will be intensified in markets selling firecrackers. Undercover officers will maintain their presence around banks, exchanges and ATMs.

Ajman Police are gearing up for Eid Al Fitr with intensified, round-the-clock patrolling around shops, markets and residential areas.

Lieutenant-Colonel Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, deputy director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said commercial and industrial areas in addition to the Eid Musallah and other areas in the emirate will also be patrolled.

Ras Al Khaimah Police are also intensifying patrolling to prevent traffic accidents.

Major-General Ali Abdullah Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the police are also cracking down on the sale of firecrackers in the emirate.

Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi urged parents to pay more attention to their children during the holidays.

Brigadier Mohammad Ahmad Bin Ganem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, appealed to all motorists and those visiting the emirate during the Eid holidays to be careful in mountainous areas, valleys, and also if they go out at sea. The police operations room can be reached at 999.
