Ras Al Khaimah: Acting on a tip on Friday about an attempted murder of a woman in a home, police responded and found an injured woman who was taken to hospital and survived, said Brigadier General Abdullah Minkhis, Director of the RAK Police Department Criminal Investigation Department.

The woman had been stabbed by an assailant who fled the scene.

A suspect was arrested hours later, police said.

Brig Gen Minkhis said a team was formed which soon caught a suspect identified as Sh.S., 33, in Abu Dhabi.

Cooperation between RAK, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi police led to the suspect’s arrest five hours later.

Police said the suspect, of Asian nationality, confessed to his crime while the police were taking down the initial information regarding the crime.

According to police, the man said that he tried to kill the Asian national, identified as Th.B, 25, for personal reasons.

The suspect reportedly told police that after he stabbed her with a knife, he fled to one of his friend’s homes in Abu Dhabi to try to escape the country but authorities caught up with him.
