Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli troops clashed with dozens of Palestinians at a checkpoint between the West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem amid mounting tensions over plans to build homes for Jewish colonists.
Palestinians threw stones and soldiers fired tear gas on Saturday after dozens of Palestinian women marched toward the Qalandiya crossing.
They scuffled with Israeli troops and were repelled by tear gas. Palestinian teens threw stones and a firebomb at the soldiers.
The Palestinians want Occupied east Jerusalem as a capital of a future state. Israel says it won't relinquish control, and recently announced plans to build 1,600 more homes for Jews in occupied east Jerusalem.
On Friday, Israel sealed off the West Bank to try to prevent Palestinian protests in the city.
