Gaza City: A defense lawyer says a Gaza court has ordered a British journalist detained in the Hamas-run Palestinian strip be held for 15 days more.
Freelance reporter Paul Martin was arrested February 14 in a Gaza military court where he had intended to testify in defense of a Palestinian militant accused of collaborating with Israel.
It's the first time since Hamas' 2007 takeover of Gaza that the Islamic militants arrested a foreigner.
Martin's initial detention order was for 15 days. His lawyer, Sharhabil Zayim, said on Monday that it was extended by 15 days.
The lawyer says Martin would either have to be charged or released at the end of that period.
Hamas has portrayed Martin as a threat to Gaza's security but made no specific accusation.
