Ras Al Khaimah: A number of Asians were caught by the Naturalisation, Residency and Checkpoints Department in Ras Al Khaimah, trading in falsified entry permits.

Investigations led police to believe that some of the suspects were working with offices both inside and outside the country to promote the false visas and sell them for up to Dh8,000 each.

Colonel Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Hosani, head of the Violators and Foreigners Follow-Up office in Ras Al Khaimah, said two people with false visas were caught by the office in Khor Fakkan.

Companies involved

Upon interrogation, another group of people were found.

A contracting company and a tourism company who were allegedly trading in false visas were also discovered.

One of the suspects had bought 37 visas for Dh85,000, another had seven for which he paid Dh26,000, while a third had four which cost him Dh7,500.

The police also seized a computer, passport photocopies and other equipment they say was used to fabricate entry permits.
