New residency office to be opened at Ministry of Labour

Department also working on a new electronic project to reduce queues

Dubai: A residency office is to be opened soon at the Ministry of Labour premises to help the public finalise residency and labour issues more quickly, said a senior Ministry of Interior official.

Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director General of the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) said yesterday that a mutual team of officials from the Ministry of Labour and GDRFA would be formed soon to follow up on all issues and obstacles related to labour and residency.

Joint committee

"We will open an external residency office soon at the premises of the Ministry of Labour which will help [the] public to finish their related work very quickly," he said.

Major General Al Merri said a GDRFA and Ministry of Labour joint committee would meet monthly to keep an eye on all issues and obstacles related to residency and labour.

"There will be also [an] annual meeting between the Ministry of Labour and GDRFA to evaluate the outcome of the work," he said.

He said the GDRFA was also working on establishing a new electronic project with the Ministry of Labour which will link the work electronically and will reduce the queue.

Major General Al Merri was talking in a meeting held on Monday at GDRFA headquarters.
