Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a ‘bus rental service' portal linked to the RTA's website which offers luxury buses for both public and private companies.

The move comes as part of a new strategy adopted by the RTA's Public Transport Agency (PTA) to broaden the scope of its services, to keep pace with the developments of the integrated public transport services in Dubai.

"The bus rental service is also open to private companies including hotel and tour operators," said Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dossary, CEO, PTA. He said that customers can now access the RTA's website to make reservation for PTA buses.

He said the new service has been launched to boost bus transport services for public and private sector companies by offering them top-of-the-range RTA buses featuring high-level luxury and comfort.

"I am sure this service will be extremely beneficial for hotels and tourism companies operating in Dubai as our buses have unique features to ensure high safety and convenience for passengers in a luxurious environment," Al Dossary said.

He added that PTA uses environment-friendly buses driven by highly trained drivers and that it would customise buses to suit customers' preferences. "It is possible to fit these buses with additional on board services such as breakfast, attendance systems, internet and daily newspapers, among others," he added.

Capacity

The PTA currently provides commuter service to the employees of Emirates airlines and Dnata based on a contract made early this year.

The agency operates four types of buses: standard, articulated, double-deck and luxury coaches.

The standard buses have a capacity to accommodate 65 passengers — 34 seats and 31 standing passengers.

All the buses are fitted with fire extinguishers, advanced air-conditioning systems, first aid kits, exclusive family seats, internal and external cameras, fully automatic door control, LCD monitors and internal announcement system, and wheelchairs for special needs individuals.
