New road eases traffic problems in Dubai
Temporary roundabout replaces inconvenient U-turn leading to Shaikh Zayed Road exit
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened the new western parallel road connecting Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) to Al Barsha, Emirates Hills and The Meadows.
"This is a major milestone for the JLT community. The new road brings us one step closer to a permanent traffic solution, which will allow members of the community to choose from a variety of access points and minimise traffic flow," said Gautam Sashittal, chief operating officer of DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre), in a statement.
"Residents, workers and visitors now have a number of transit options available to them, including access points for motorists on the north and south side of the community, as well as two conveniently located Metro stations serving JLT," he added.
Motorists seeking access to areas in the southern portion of JLT, including Almas Towers, are encouraged to use the new road. Drivers can do so from Exit 32 of the Abu Dhabi-bound Shaikh Zayed Road, after which they should proceed into Emirates Hills and turn right onto the new section of the Western Parallel road.
A temporary roundabout has also been established to replace the inconvenient U-turn leading to the Dubai-bound Shaikh Zayed Road exit.
A detailed drawing of the new road can be found on JLT's online community portal — www.dmcc.ae/jltcommunity. The website is dedicated to keeping its 25,000 residents, workers and visitors up to date with the latest community news, information and openings.
