Dubai: The Monitoring and Enforcement Department at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has built a designated quad bike circuit at Wadi Al Amradi, Al-Warqa, Dubai under the theme “Safe Driving, More Fun”, with the aim of educating quad bikers as well as parents about the basics of quad biking to protect them from serious incidents that put their lives and others’ at risk.
Abdullah Al Mahra, acting Director of Monitoring and Enforcement, RTA, said, “We, at the RTA, constantly seek to launch various campaigns and initiatives that contribute to serving all community segments, and imply important and useful awareness messages that ensure road security and safety.
“The initiative,” he said “included constructing a quad bike circuit, and staging many other exciting events that attracted more than 600 visitors and participants. Events held included aero games for kids and the distribution of awareness leaflets and brochures that contained a variety of information about using and licensing quad bikes in Dubai pursuant to Order No. 4/2008, in addition to safe driving in the desert terrains and registration sites.”
Al Mahra said that 164 quad bikes had been registered in Dubai since the introduction of the order.
“The construction of this quad bike circuit is intended to bolster other external efforts to curtail the negative phenomena resulting from negligence and wrong practices of quad biking, that put the lives of quad bikers as well as others at risk. The circuit is also aimed at opening channels of communication with parents to familiarise them with safety measures to be taken during quad biking such as wearing helmets, brief them about different types of quad bikes befitting the ages of their children, educate them about the appropriate sites for exercising this hobby, and remind them of the importance of having an adult with children while quad biking,” he continued.
“The inspection campaigns launched constantly by the RTA in various desert areas in Dubai, contribute significantly to highlighting the importance of quad bikers compliance with the prescribed regulations and laws in order to ensure their safety while practicing their hobby which requires knowledge and care in order protect their own lives and other peoples’ lives from risks.”
