Sharjah Astronomers forecast that Ramadan may fall on Saturday, July 21, and the first day of Eid Al Fitr will start on August 19.

According to Ebrahim Al Jarwan, an astronomy expert and chief supervisor of the Sharjah Planetarium, the birth of the crescent moon will be on Thursday, at 8.24am, and the sunset will be at 5pm, while the moon will set two minutes after sunset.

Visibility

Al Jarwan said sighting the crescent would be impossible on Thursday night, but it would be visible on Friday night.

Accordingly, Saturday, July 21, would be the first day of Ramadan.
