Dubai: Members of the Pakistani community in the UAE will celebrate Pakistan National Day on Friday.

The main flag-hoisting ceremony will be held at the premises of Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi at 8:30am on Friday where Jamil Ahmad Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan, will hoist the flag in the presence of a large gathering of Pakistani community members.

Khan has urged the community members to attend the ceremony along with their families.

Another flag-hoisting ceremony will be held at 9am at the premises of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai where Consul General Tariq Iqbal Soomro will unfurl the national flag in the presence of Pakistanis from all walks of life.

An exhibition of 30 paintings titled "Flowers" by Mona Naqsh, a famous painter of Pakistan will be held from March 24 to 28 at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) atrium.

To mark the day, the Pakistan Association Dubai is organising a host of activities for the community. There will be a four-day Meena Bazaar, children's activities, sports events, Education Expo and health awareness events at the association from 4pm to 11 pm.

Consul General Somro will inaugurate the Meena Bazaar on Wednesday. The Meena Bazaar will have attractions for families and children including clowns, magicians, a national song competition, a dress competition, face paintings, drawing and art competition, best school project competition, ice cream eating competition, games, karate and lucky draws.

 The association has also tied up with Pakistani school children to have a clean up campaign. More than 300 children and community members will clean the beach adjacent to Burj Al Arab Jumeriah at 9pm on Friday.

An education expo about higher education opportunities in Pakistan will be held on March 22 at Ramada Hotel in Ajman and on March 23 at Pakistan Association in Dubai.

Meanwhile, as part of the celebrations, there will be a showcase of Pakistani products and musical show at the Asian Palace in Sharjah on March 22 and 23 from 5pm until midnight. The entrance is free for families only. Renowned Pakistani singer Munni Begum will also perform at the Asian Palace on March 29 from 8pm onwards as part of the Pakistan Day activities.
