Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi will hold a flag hoisting ceremony at Abu Dhabi Indian School
Abu Dhabi/Dubai: The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi will hold a flag hoisting ceremony at Abu Dhabi Indian School today on the occasion of India's Republic Day.
The ceremony used to be held at the embassy premises but this year it will be at Abu Dhabi Indian School, a spokesman of the embassy told Gulf News yesterday.
The school conducts a ceremony every year which is attended by the Indian Ambassador, so both the events will be clubbed this year, he said. M.K Lokesh, Indian Ambassador, will hoist India's national flag at 8:30am, followed by cultural programmes by school pupils.
Proud host
The school is proud to host the embassy's republic day ceremony, said B.R. Shetty, chairman of Abu Dhabi Indian School. The ceremony will be held on the school grounds which has adequate infrastructure to organise such a huge event, he said.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai will organise Republic Day celebrations at the Indian High School, Dubai, Zabeel Campus (Senior School), at 8:30 am today.
"The flag will be hoisted by the Consul General and he will read out the Indian President's message, followed by a march past and performance by students," said Ashok Kumar, CEO of Indian High School, Dubai. The event is expected to be attended by 40,000 people who will also enjoy food and entertainment facilities.
