Dubai: The Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Ron Bumblefoot Thal visited The Dubai Autism Centre (DAC) along with the band ‘Point Of View’ to express his strong support to the cause of Autism.
The guitarist who performed for the children at the centre, said that his interest in supporting the cause started back in his hometown Staten Islands in New York City where the rates of children suffering from autism is very high.
His voluntary visit to Dubai which was coordinated with members from the band Point Of View, was specifically planned in support of the autism center. Following his performance, Bumblefoot toured the classrooms and interacted with the students.
“Their visit left a lasting impression on all staff members… It was a strong expression of their commitment towards humanitarian initiatives,” said Sara Baker, Head of Community Service Unit at the Dubai Autism Centre.
The centre which was launched in 2001, is currently providing 48 students with a holistic individualised intervention programme that includes academics and various therapies, as well as professional medical care. DAC’s main objective is to successfully integrate children with Autism into the community as well as create social awareness of the condition.
