Dubai:

The Philippine Overseas Labour Office (Polo) in Dubai, an attached agency to the Philippine Consulate General, has migrated its website to a new domain and introduced various website enhancements to make its services more accessible and user-friendly, Labour Attache Delmer Cruz told Gulf News.

While the new website (www.polodubai.com) comes in English, a small portion has been translated into Arabic to cater for Polo’s Arabic-speaking clients, mainly employers who want to hire Filipino workers.

Cruz said his office aims to have relevant sections translated fully into Arabic in the coming months, if time and budget permits.

The website enhancement is part of the series of improvements Cruz had promised Filipinos when he assumed office in August.

The primary reason for enhancing the website, Cruz said, is to urge Filipinos to access Polo’s services reasonably and more efficiently just as they would with other government offices here in the UAE.

“We are promoting the use of the website as more than 80 per cent of the phone calls we get are simple queries on getting directions on how to go to Polo and on consular matters and requirements all of which can actually be found in the website. Entertaining all of these queries affects our productivity,” Cruz told Gulf News.
