Dubai: The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping destination, has announced it will open for 24 hours at weekends during Eid.

It will take part in Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment’s (DEPE) Eid Al Adha celebrations initiative, with 24-hour continuous operations during three consecutive weekends from October 18 to November 4, 2012.

During the three week period, all aspects of the mall, including 1,200 retail outlets will operate throughout the day and night on weekends. Leisure and entertainment attractions in the mall, including the Dubai Aquarium and underwater zoo, KidZania, Sega Republic, a 76,000 sq ft indoor theme park, Reel Cinemas, and the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink will also be open during the 24-hour weekends.

Visitors to The Dubai Mall will get the opportunity to take advantage of the extended timings to enjoy the full spectrum of shopping and leisure attractions round-the-clock.

Nasser Rafi, chief executive officer, Emaar Malls Group, said: “The decision to extend Eid Al Adha celebrations for Eid in Dubai, with the participating malls to be operational 24 hours on weekends in addition to extended timings, will significantly energise Dubai’s retail, tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors. This gives us three full weekends of fun-filled activities to celebrate Eid with the UAE residents and visitors, complementing the busy tourist season for Dubai.”

During the Eid in Dubai celebration, on October 18 and 19, 25 and 26, and November 1 and 2, 2012, The Dubai Mall will be operating for 24 hours, while on weekdays the mall will be open from 10am to 1am for retail outlets, and until 3am for food courts and restaurants.

This follows the recent announcement by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to extend Eid in Dubai celebrations where malls in Dubai can open 24 hours across the three weekends from the end of October to November.
