Click away a child's cancer blues
Emirati girls launch a website to grant wishes of young people diagnosed with the disease.

Dubai: Books, toys and electronic games. For children suffering from a disease as serious as cancer, the wish-list is not really overwhelming.
While wishes, however small or big, rarely come true, a group of UAE national girls decided to help with their ‘touch of hope'.
Lamsat Amal, which means ‘touch of hope' in Arabic, was started as a website in September 2009 by the group to find out and grant the wishes of children in the UAE who had been diagnosed with cancer.
Visitors to the website are able to click on individual patients' profiles and grant their wishes, sometimes even getting the opportunity to meet them.
While the members of the group work on the website on a part-time basis, their efforts seem to be bearing fruit. Mahrah Ahmad, one of the founders of the website, said: "I must admit that the challenges we faced, such as starting off with no budget ... made us doubt our ability to make it happen. However, we reminded each other that all we needed was patience and a new plan."
