Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, and the newly-appointed Chairman of the National Media Council (NMC).
Shaikh Mohammad also received separately Abdul Qader Zawi, Morocco's Ambassador to the UAE, and Ahmad Junejo, Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE, who came to bid him farewell at the end of their tenures in the UAE.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.
Shaikh Mohammad wished Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak success in his new post as the chairman of the NMC.
Shaikh Mohammad said that he gives special attention to the national media and expressed his trust in national media cadres. Shaikh Mohammad expressed his confidence in the local media in keeping pace with the latest local, regional and international developments with accuracy and objectivity. He said that the media complements the roles of institutions in highlighting the developmental achievements of the UAE in all fields as well as extending bridges of communication with other countries and its people.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad commended ambassadors' efforts in carrying out their duties and wished them success in their future assignments.
The outgoing Moroccan ambassador expressed his gratitude to Shaikh Mohammad for the cooperation and hospitality he received during his term of service in the UAE.
Other Shaikhs and senior officials were also present during the meeting.
Will to change: Hamdan opens event
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, inaugurated fifth International Conference on Will of Change in a Changing World in Police Academy on Tuesday.
The three-day event will discuss several aspects in a constantly changing world such as the administrative, economical, security, legal, political and social aspects.
"Change shouldn't be from bad to good, it should always be from good to better," Shaikh Hamdan said. The conference attracted many international experts, thinkers and scholars in the field of globalisation and change in different aspects.
"We should highlight the importance of the ideological structure of the will of change in order to move forward. We should also locate the obstructions that stand in the way of change and annihilate them," said Dubai Police Chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim during the opening speech of the conference at Police Academy yesterday.
