Dubai: Modhesh Friends Club recently hosted Mum’s Day, a special day dedicated to the mothers of its young members to give them a chance to catch a glimpse of the workshops that are offered by the club to their children.

The mothers started the day by attending an informative lecture on the importance of cord blood, which was hosted by the Dubai Cord Blood and Research Centre, a government organisation in Dubai which promotes awareness on the importance of preserving life by saving the stem cells from a baby’s umbilical cord.

Cord blood, a source of stem cells, can be collected at the time of birth and almost 80 serious diseases can be treated using the cord blood stem cells.

After the session, the mothers attended cooking class, one of the many educational and fun workshops given by the club.

Ameenah Obeid said: “I am happy to be here and would like to thank Modhesh Friends Club for this initiative of giving mothers like me the chance to attend the same workshop that my child takes at the club, like the Cooking Class. Also, the lecture given by Dubai Cord Blood and Research Centre is very enlightening and informative.”

Meanwhile, the mothers were all ears as an experienced and senior teacher from the club gave an enriching lecture on how parents can effectively teach English and Mathematics to their kids.

The mascot of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) continues to embody the spirit of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

Introduced in 2000, Modhesh, which means ‘amazing’ in Arabic, has won the hearts of thousands of kids from the UAE and the region.

The mascot engages with the public at Modhesh World, one of the largest indoor edutainment venues in the Middle East, where he entertains visitors with live shows, and meet and greet sessions. Modhesh is also associated with the Modhesh Friends Club, a summer camp edutainment programme.

Meanwhile, a drumming workshop at Modhesh World uses rhythm as a tool for learning. The Drum Workshop, a 30-minute interactive session, at the edutainment venue’s Fun and Play Zone, is a huge daily draw. Participants are given a drum each during the guided session. It also features a features a performance of experienced drummers.
