Dubai: The first Berlin-Dubai cultural festival opened last night with a screening of the film Let it Rock at the JamJar Gallery, Al Quoz.
Organised by the Goethe-Institut German Language Centre in Dubai, the festival aims to highlight the rich diversity and uniqueness of urban cultural developments in Berlin and the similarities of the city to Dubai. Participants in an after-discussion were German film producer Frank Kuenster and German author Jasna Zajcek, Emirati artist Ebtisam Abdul Aziz and Hetal Pawani, director of JamJar Gallery.
Annual event
Susan Sporrer, Director, Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, said it is planning to hold the festival annually, and hopefully also establish a Dubai-Berlin festival in Germany's capital city.
German authors and journalists Jasna Zajcek and Norman Ohler will be reading from their work as part of the festival, at 2pm tomorrow at the JamJar Gallery.
