Al Ain: An enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility has enabled Al Ain Hospital to cut patients’ waiting time and improve the quality of scanning.

The upgraded system incorporates latest technologies that made a drastic improvement in diagnostic quality, leading to lower patient recall, said an official of the hospital.

“A lumbar spine MRI now takes only 15 minutes and pelvis MRI can be done in just 25 minutes,” said Dr Jamal Al Deen Al Koteesh, chairman of Clinical Imaging Institute at Al Ain Hospital. With the upgrade of the unit, the hospital did a total of 5,124 scans last year including close to 1,800 spine MRI scans, more than 1,500 brain scans and around 500 scans of the lower extremities, he said.

The enhancements, he said, have helped the hospital to offer a comprehensive range of imaging services, including stroke imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, abdominal imaging, breast imaging and cardiac imaging.
