Abu Dhabi: A 66-year-old Emirati man died in Germany while being hospitalised for cancer treatment (level 4). The man was infected by novel coronavirus (nCoV) confirmed the German Health Authorities on Tuesday.

The Health Authority in Abu Dhabi confirmed that it’s coordinating with the Ministry of Health and other authorities in the country and has taken the necessary measures as per international standards and recommendations by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Authority confirmed that there are no suspected cases of coronavirus in the emirate up to date.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed that there are no suspected cases in the UAE up to date.

The Ministry and the Authority stated that the WHO first issued an international alert in September 2012. T date the WHO had confirmed 16 coronavirus cases globally.

The WHO confirmed that the virus is not a concern for public health at the moment, and that the current situation does not require a ban on travel to any country in the world or screenings at different ports or restrictions on trade.

The WHO is working with international experts and countries where cases have been reported to assess the situation and review recommendations for surveillance and monitoring and asked all national authorities to promptly assess and notify the WHO of any new nCoV cases within 24 hours.

The ministry and the Health Authority were saddened by the loss of the UAE national and sent condolences to his family.
