Abu Dhabi: The UAE has been closely monitoring developments in the Republic of Mali since the beginning of the crisis and the losses inflicted in lives and properties, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash has said.
In a statement on Wednesday, Gargash said: "We are in close consultations with Mali's neighbouring countries and with the concerned international organisations in rallying efforts to provide aid to the citizens of Mali."
He reiterated UAE's support to the humanitarian efforts, saying the country is working towards providing necessary aid to the people affected by the developments in Mali.
"Our stance emanates from the principles of UAE foreign policy, based primarily on Islamic and humanitarian principles for assisting people in the regions affected by natural calamities and conflicts."
He added that the assistance provided by the UAE stems form its deep belief in the importance of supporting brotherly and friendly countries, in line with the teachings of Islam, calling for helping all people in need.
