Dubai: Reviving the history of women in the UAE is a revival of people’s memory, which forms an integral part of the history of the country, according to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who stressed the important role played by women in the development of the country.
On his visit to the Women’s Museum at the Souk in Al Ras area, Shaikh Mohammad, who was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, wrote at the museum’s honorary registration that he was extremely pleased with establishment of the museum, which he hailed a giant accomplishment. “It reflects the ability of the daughters of the Emirates to achieve their goals in every nationalstic aspects,” he said.
The museum showcased rare photos of the founding fathers of the UAE and other national figures in addition to old passports from the time of British occupation which belonged to important UAE women in the history of the country.
A portrait depicting women and politics was also on display.
The portrait is a testimony of the role played by women in the UAE in forming local policies.
“We support this creative work and ask Allah the Almighty to give strength and success to all,” Shaikh Mohammad added.
Shaikh Mohammad toured the three-storied museum in the company of Shaikh Hamdan and Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and other senior officials.
