Dubai: The Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) launched on Monday a new feature-packed version of the official website of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The revamped website www.sheikhmohammed.ae focuses on boosting user interactivity and providing easy access to rich content (news, photos, videos, etc.) through a reinvented sitemap.
Website visitors can now watch live TV broadcast of important national events and share content with their friends on "Twitter" and "Facebook" with a click of a button, allowing a larger audience, within the UAE and abroad, to follow the news of Shaikh Mohammad and his various initiatives and activities.
Recognised as one of the most prominent Arab leaders, outstanding initiatives of Shaikh Mohammad have attracted wide regional and international attention, leading to a substantial increase in the number of website visitors.
Dubai Media Office said the newly-introduced features will accommodate increasing local and international demand on the website content, offered in both Arabic and English. Statistics show that net surfers who visit the website cover around 200 countries, according to GDMO.
The news section is an ideal window to get updated news and activities of Shaikh Mohammad as they happen along with videos and photos. This section highlights Shaikh Mohammad's official meetings with world leaders, senior officials, heads of government departments, as well as field visits and meetings with UAE nationals and residents on different occasions.
The news section also includes video interviews with Shaikh Mohammad by various reputable Arab and international news networks in addition to print interviews with leading newspapers. Articles authored by Shaikh Mohammad himself and other articles about him by prominent writers are also found in this section.
Visitors can also learn about Shaikh Mohammad's local and international sports activities and competitions that he is keen to watch or participate in.

The history section of the website displays important phases in Shaikh Mohammad's life that contributed to shaping his personality as a leader, horseman and poet. The site also briefs visitors about the UAE, formation of the federation, history of Dubai and the rulers the emirate of Dubai since 1833.
Videos and full text of the official speeches delivered by Shaikh Mohammad at national and international occasions, since 1991 until today, are available on the website. Shaikh Mohammad's quotes on different occasions can be found in this section.
Thought and poetry
Another significant characteristic of the new design is the classification of poetry, enabling quick and easy access to his poems. This section also contains an interactive browsing interface of Shaikh Mohammad's special publications such as, Poems from the Desert, Forty Poems from the Desert, My Vision, in addition to Spirit of the Union lecture, which is regarded as an important historical reference.
E-mail and guestbook
The website includes a special link to Shaikh Mohammad's e-mail which allows for direct communication with the public. The guestbook invites visitors to post ideas or suggestions for the website.
