Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday received GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani, who is currently on a tour of the Gulf region, prior to the Gulf Summit, due to be held in Doha on December 9.

Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Al Zayani on the agenda and the details of the forthcoming summit of the GCC leaders and underscored the importance of continuing the march of GCC states with resolve and certainty.

He also valued the sincere and good efforts of the GCC leaders in working towards the achievement of the common goals of the Council, its leaders and the peoples of member states, and the realisation of the interests of these peoples through speeding up to implement clearly-defined projects that would benefit the citizens of GCC countries.

Shaikh Mohammad emphasised that it is very important that the Secretariat General of the GCC makes further efforts to enlighten the GCC citizens about the achievements that effectively contribute to the enhancement and improvement of the relations between GCC countries in various trade and social spheres.

"We look forward to the Doha Summit as a qualitative addition to the march of the GCC. We are confident that the positive atmosphere in the fraternal relations between the member states will reflect positively and clearly on all the citizens of the GCC female and male citizens," Shaikh Mohammad said.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Ahmad bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai's Protocol Department, were present at the meeting.
