Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday urged people planning to book congratulatory newspaper advertisements to mark the fifth anniversary of his accession as Ruler of Dubai, to give the money to local charities instead.

According to the Dubai Government's Media Office, Shaikh Mohammad has asked people planning to publish advertisements in his honour to put the money in charity projects, especially those institutions that look after the orphans.

Social solidarity

"First, I would like to extend my thanks in advance to all bodies and people who express their loyalty and faithfulness on the occasion of our accession in Dubai, and wish they donate the money allocated for congratulatory advertisements to charity bodies, specifically for projects meant for orphans so as to highlight the spirit of social solidarity in our dear country," Shaikh Mohammad said in a statement.
