Abu Dhabi: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has completed work on two projects, a mosque and a hospital, in Kazakhstan’s second largest city of Shymkent.

A delegation from the foundation will inaugurate the mosque on Friday.

An official source told Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the new mosque is considered the largest in the region, and can accommodate up to 6,000 worshippers. Built on an area of 8,000 square metres, it also boasts a women’s prayer room. It took three years to build the mosque.
