Dubai : UAE Leaders yesterday offered their condolences to the Egyptian leadership on the death of Pope Shenouda III, the Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese. He passed away on Saturday, at the age of 88.

Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah, Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman, Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah, and Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain, sent cables of condolences to Field Marshal Mohammad Hussain Tantawi, Chairman of Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.

Pope Shenouda III served as the Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria from November 1971.

The Rulers extended their sincere condolences to the Egyptian people, Copts in Egypt and abroad on the death of Pope Shenouda III.
