Dubai Police enters book of world records by laying out 13.6-metre by 12-metre mosaic

- Dubai Police officers with the giant seashell mosaic of the organisation's logo display the Guinness World Book of Records certificate for the feat.
Dubai Dubai Police has entered the Guinness World Book of Records for constructing the world's biggest seashell mosaic designed and laid out by 116 police officers.
It took the officers 335 hours in about 32 days to construct the seashell mosaic, which is 13.6 metres long and 12 metres wide, weighing around 1,700kg.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Director of Dubai Police, said at a press conference held on Sunday that this achievement was meant to mark the fourth accession anniversary of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
National identity
The logo has not changed in the past 50 years, he said, adding that the logo reflects the principles of the UAE's national identity.
Maj Gen Al Mazeina said that many participated in the collection and sorting of seashells for use to depict the logo of Dubai Police.
He said the giant work is not affected by factors such as air and rain and it will undergo periodic maintenance to preserve it.
