Abu Dhabi: Al Mazyad border has made preparations to complete transactions in record time for more than 5,000 Haj pilgrims expected to pass through the port within the coming days.
Colonel Mohammad Jameel Salim Al Wahaibi, head of Al Mazyad port security, said the port had made arrangements to receive those wanting to carry out Haj. These preparations will help smooth out travel procedures for those travelling to Saudi Arabia.
The official said that two tents fully equipped with air-conditioning and a wide range of services, have been set up and have the capacity to accommodate 400 people.
These are to provide pilgrims with snacks, meals, juices and water in addition to rest areas so they can freshen up before continuing on their long and tiresome journey, according to Al Wahaibi.
Al Wahaibi highlighted that all parties involved have been cooperative, whether they belong to police or city institutions, and that more helping hands have been hired to assist with protocol situations and emergencies.
The Abu Dhabi Police earlier announced that it has been distributing fliers to pilgrims on road safety and providing travellers with medical services using ambulances in cooperation with the Red Crescent branch in Al Ain, to deal with medical emergencies.
Finally, Al Wahaibi ensured that under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi headquarters, all campaign managers have been instructed to carry out maintenance for buses transporting pilgrims, before leaving the country.
Moreover, all drivers are urged to abide by the speed limits, and to follow road signs and instructions, and to refrain from overtaking as it could cause accidents especially for light vehicles which may be carrying heavy luggage.
