Sharjah: No casualties resulted from the fire that erupted at 3.51pm on August8 in a walled scrap yard in Industrial Area 12, which took almost 10 hours to put out, official at Sharjah Civil Defence said
The scrapyard, which is behind the police station, was used to store tyres and plastic material, and so the fire spread rapidly.
Fire trucks from Samnan, Al Mina and Muweileh stations were at the scene. A truck from Dubai and water tanks from Sharjah Municiplaity were also at the fire site.
The fire was contained before it spread to the nearby labour accommodation and warehouses.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. The forensic department is investigating the incident.
