Abu Dhabi: A man fell to his death from his office on the 12th floor of a building on Hamdan Street on Monday, Gulf News has learnt.

The Indian man was working as an office boy at a private firm Al Wahda Express, said an Abu Dhabi police official who was at the scene.

"Prasad served coffee to everyone a while ago...and then we heard a thud. It was only later that we realised it was him," a colleague said, asking not to be named.

The incident happened around 8:30am. Police are investigating the incident.

"We still do not know if it was a case of suicide or not", the official said.

Colleagues of Prasad, identified only by his first name, said he hailed from Hyderabad in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Gulzar Khan, the watchman of the building, expressed shock at the death and said he had known Prasad for more than a decade.

"I met him last night to request him to give me some old newspapers. He appeared to be very tensed and said that something is not right...but he didn’t tell me the reason," Khan said.

"Today I feel just so terrible that I did not ask him the reason and try to help him out," he added.

Prasd is survived by a wife and three children in India.
