Dubai: Three Bangladeshi men have denied the charge that they forced a compatriot to drink alcohol until he fell unconscious and then raped him.
Prosecutors accused the trio, 36-year-old M.A., 23-year-old A.M. and 25-year-old A.H., of endangering the life of their compatriot by getting him drunk and forcing him to have sex with each of them.
When the three Bangladeshi suspects appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance, they rejected the charge of forcing their compatriot, M.I., to drink liquor until he became unconscious and having sex with him against his will.
"No, I am not guilty. That did not happen. However, I admit that I consumed liquor," said M.A. when he defended himself in front of Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad.
According to the charges sheets, the trio raped M.I. after making him drink until he fell unconscious. They were additionally charged with endangering the claimant's life and consuming liquor.
A.M. and A.H. denied they had endangered their compatriot's life by forcing him to drink alcohol and then raping him.
A Bangladeshi worker, named Abdullah, testified the alleged incident happened in a labour accommodation in Al Ghusais area.
"I was passing by in front of the suspects' room and overheard a discussion between M.A. and some of his roommates… when I walked into the room, A.M. and A.H. was absent. When I asked what they were talking about, M.A. replied ‘didn't you hear what happened between us!'. He told me that sometime earlier they escorted M.I. to a sandy area where he alleged that they forced the claimant to consume liquor. M.A. also claimed to me when M.I. got heavily drunk, they had sex with him one at a time. The 36-year-old claimed that they would repeat what they did," claimed Abdullah in his statement before prosecutors.
