Sharjah: Police Saturday arrested two people, from Tajikistan and Afghanistan nationality, who allegedly stole valuables from vehicles and traded alcoholic beverages.

Sharjah Police had earlier received a complaint from a resident that his car parked in Al Khan was broken into, and that somebody had stolen Dh4,800 and an iPhone.

The Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah set up a security team and through examining the evidence, police were able to identify the suspect as Sh. K., who was also wanted by police in various emirates for other crimes.

Police then arrested the two suspects and arrested for allegedly having large amounts of alcohol in their vehicle, which police said they confessed to intending to sell.

During police interrogation, police said the suspects admitted that they worked with a third accomplice, from Afghanistan. Upon arrest, the third suspect allegedly confessed that he carried out a large number of robberies from cars.

The case has been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
