Nigerian found in Deira parking lot was murdered, say police
Man believed to be with the woman on the day she died is now in custody
Dubai: A Nigerian woman was found dead last Friday in a parking lot in Al Muraqqabat in Deira.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the naked woman fell from the fourth floor of the building where she resided, a police source told Gulf News.
Photocopies of her passport are unclear to indicate her identity, police said.
Although it initially looked like a suicide case, further investigation indicates that the victim was murdered, the police source added.
Suspect in custody
An Egyptian suspect is now under Dubai Police custody.
The suspect's phone number was the last number registered on the victim's mobile phone and he is believed to be the last person to see her on the day she died.
According to the police source, the suspect had told investigators that he met the victim on the day of the crime as a client of a brothel she allegedly operates.
The suspect, however, denied knowing about the victim's death, the source said.
Authorities learned of the case when the operations room of the Dubai Police got a call at around 7.30am on Friday informing them of the discovery of the victim's body by a passerby.
