Ajman: An Asian man's body was found buried near a labour accommodation in Ajman on Saturday, police told Gulf News.

They said the body was of a Bangladeshi worker, Robel, 42, and was found in the Al Manama area. Robel's passport was found on the body.

Two of his compatriots who shared his room were arrested for investigation, police said.

The man had disappeared three months ago and his sponsor had reported him as absconding, the police said.

Busy area

"Municipality workers who were working on the labour accommodation project in the area found the body," police said.

According to police, the body was found in a busy area and there were labour accommodations nearby.

According to police, the victim had worked for Al Qaser Ceramic Company in Ajman for 15 years.

"The victim was on vacation in his country. He came back three months ago and then he disappeared," a company spokesman told Gulf News.

The spokesman said the victim had retained his passport because he had been on vacation and the sponsor had not been in town. "We thought that he absconded so we informed the labour and the residency about him three months ago," he said.

Robel's body was found near the company's labour accommodation where he used to live, the official said.

"I have no clue how that could happen. It is a busy area and the workers are around the place around the clock," he said.

Police said the body was taken to forensic laboratory for investigation.

"We have to wait for the forensic laboratory to issue its report to find out how the man was murdered," police said.

"The municipality informed police about the body which was decomposed. We were able to identify the victim from his passport which was in his pocket," police said.

The investigators questioned a number of workers of the same company. "We have two Bangladeshis in police custody in relation to this crime," police said.

The case is at Al Manama police station.
