Abu Dhabi: A Sudanese man allegedly stabbed his wife to death in their apartment in Musaffah on Sunday, Gulf News has learnt.
An Abu Dhabi police official confirmed the arrest of the husband after the body of his wife, aged about 35, was found in their apartment.
"There were multiple stab wounds in the wife's body around her neck, chest and elsewhere," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. "The husband has been arrested."
Musaffah police are investigating the violent murder that has shocked officials. "Such cases are extremely rare in the UAE", he said.
An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death, he added. According to sources close to the investigation, the man made no effort to hide the body after the crime and has confessed to the killing.
Such acts are often the result of the attacker being suspicious of some action by the victim and therefore the attacker does not make any effort to hide the crime, said the official.
Officials declined to divulge further details about the family, as the investigation is still in preliminary stage.
