Dubai: Two lawyers have accused an 18-year-old woman of being a seductress and luring their clients into having consensual sex with her in order to get get a car.

The lawyers of the two Emirati engineers, 25-year-old A.I. and 26-year-old A.S., lambasted the girl for fabricating a kidnap and rape case against their clients and asked the Dubai Appeals Court to modify the charges to consensual sex.

The defendants are currently serving a life imprisonment for kidnapping the girl, from Comoros Island, and raping her in a remote desert area.

A.I.’s lawyer Ali Abdullah Al Shamsi countered the accusation that his client had kidnapped the girl and argued that she wore seductive clothes and willingly accompanied A.I. in his car.

“She confessed that she met my client via social media networks, then she asked him to give her a car. This is a consensual sex case and not rape,” defended Al Shamsi.

“The girl has a rich history in similar cases… she is nothing but a playgirl and a prostitute who always has sex with men for money. Once she fights with the men over the money, she claims that she has been raped. When she first complained to the police, she was immediately locked up and accused of having consensual sex because the police know about her criminal history,” argued A.S.’s lawyer Saeed Al Ghailani.

In August, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the defendants of deceiving the girl and luring her to the desert claiming that they wanted to lend her a car. They were incriminated of raping and sexually molesting the girl by filming her during the rape.

A.S. and A.I. entered an innocent plea claiming they had consensual sex with her.

Advocate Al Shamsi contended: “It is true that my client agreed to lend her a car… but he was not aware that his dad had taken the car that day. He did not want to keep her in the street or take her to his residence so he asked her to wait in A.S.’s vehicle. Everything happened with her consent, and had she been under duress, she could have easily left. She is the one who guided my client as to how she preferred to have intercourse. When he asked her why, she alleged that she is used to that form of bizarre sex.”

“This girl is not a complainant, she is a seductress and prostitute who sought money. Initially she was a suspect in this case. Then she asked the men to pay her Dh5,000 each. When she realised that she wouldn’t be paid, she changed her claims and alleged that she was raped. She influenced the investigating prosecutor when she pretended that she was a victim and shed crocodile tears. She did the same thing before the Court of First Instance’s judges,” argued Al Ghailani.

Court records said the Dubai-born girl dated A.I. shortly and then they broke up.

“I asked him if he could help me buy a car… he said he would lend me his. He drove towards Al Aweer and asked me to ride with A.S. They took away my two mobile phones and switched them off… they raped me,” she claimed.

Advocates Al Shamsi and Al Ghailani also argued that the girl claimed that she was raped when she did not get the car that she was promised.

The lawyers asked Presiding Judge Mustafa Al Shennawi to scrap the kidnap and rape charges and change them to consensual sex.

The appellate judgement will be heard next Wednesday.
