Dubai: Five Asian suspects were arrested recently for kidnapping two brothers on separate periods recently.

A senior Dubai police official told Gulf News that a call was made to the operations room by an Arab national who witnessed four men kidnapping a man in Al Baraha past midnight.

A minibus with a Sharjah number plate stopped at the side of the road and four suspects got out and forcefully grabbed the Bangladeshi victim into the vehicle, said the source.

Following thorough investigations, Dubai Police coordinated with an investigative team from Sharjah police to arrest the suspects, who were present in Sharjah.

The arrest happened at around 3:30am of the same day the report was made to the operations room, he said.

According to the source, the victim told the police that his brother was kidnapped by the same suspects on February 7.

They demanded from the brother to pay back the money they provided as charges to issue residence visas for relatives of the one of the suspects. They wanted Dh18,000.

The source said that the Bangladeshi suspect who was recently kidnapped informed Naif police station of his brother's kidnapping on February 10.

Couple of weeks later, the victim received a call from the kidnappers requesting to meet him close to a mosque in Al Baraha area to reach an agreement.

While he was waiting for the person, he was kidnapped by the four suspects. As he was hollering for someone's rescue, an Arab passer-by heard his plea and immediately called the operations room.

The suspects drove him to a villa in Sharjah where the victim met with his brother who was kidnapped earlier.

The brother had multiple bruises on different parts of his body. According to Dubai Police investigation records, the victim received death threats if he didn't deposit the amount they wanted in their accounts.

They had also earlier stolen around Dh 9,600 he had in his wallet.

The victim asked his friend to deposit the amount in certain bank accounts. Before they managed to release the victims, Dubai Police raided the villa and arrested the suspects, said the source.
