Dubai: A realty agent faces three months in jail for placing his hand inside the skirt of a girl while showing her a flat for rent at Dubai International City.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the 29-year-old Pakistani defendant of molesting the Mexican girl and groping her.
Prosecutors had accused 29-year-old M.A. of molesting the 24-year-old girl by touching her legs after putting his hand in her skirt.
"No I am not guilty… I didn't molest her," argued M.A. when he defended himself before in court.
Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad said the accused will be deported after serving his punishment.
The girl, L.G., testified that the incident happened when the accused was showing her a number of flats to rent with her fiancé.
"While we were inside a flat, I walked out to the balcony and was taking photos of the view to show them to my fiancé and friends… I was taking photos with my mobile phone camera when suddenly I felt somebody touching my legs from inside the skirt. I was shocked to see the defendant molesting me. I heard his mobile phone camera clicking and realised that he took snapshots of up my skirt… immediately I took away the phone from his hand to remove the pictures and report the police.
"He quarreled with me and wanted to retain his phone. I struggled with him for a while and tried to throw away the phone but he managed to grab it… I was outraged. Then he followed me and begged me not to report the police or his boss. Then I complained to the police," L.G. claimed to prosecutors.
The judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
