Dubai: Police arrested four suspects who have escaped from Al Muraqabbat Police Station on December 18.
The four suspects were arrested last Friday at 5:00pm while taking refuge in an abandoned house in Dubai, as confirmed by police sources.
“The police started a campaign in collaboration with other emirates to arrest all four suspects from the day of their escape. The campaign included 90 police officers and 400 policemen,” said Brigadier Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the CID at Dubai Police.
The campaign also included "strict surveillance" on all land and coastal exits and ports in the UAE.
“We managed to seal all exits including ports in order to hinder the suspects escape from the country,” said Brigadier Al Mansouri.
The four suspects are all from Asian nationalities were accused of various crimes such as theft and drug abuse.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the police chief suspected negligence or "outside help" which allowed the suspects to escape.
The investigation blamed the negligence of the policemen at the detention centre in Al Muraqabbat Police station for allowing the four suspects to escape.
The four suspects, who were dressed in civilian clothes, managed to hoodwink the guard on duty and escaped by breaking off the metal railing around the police station wall and jumping over it.
