Ras Al Khaimah: A doctor was arrested in Ras Al Khaimah for allegedly giving out prescriptions of controlled substances to teenagers. 

The doctor, an Arab national, is accused of exploiting his position as a specialised internist to prescribe controlled and uncontrolled drugs and selling them to youth. 

Captain Ali Mohammad Al Saadi, head of operations at the Anti-Narcotics department in RAK Police, said that the police received reports about an Arab doctor selling unlicensed prescriptions to youth who have not received any medical examinations, and whose condition do not require the prescribed medication. 

Reports also indicated that the doctor was allegedly treating cases that require a specialised psychologist, and was practicing his profession outside of his clinic located in a healthcare centre. 

Based on that information and conducted investigations, police said they set a trap and seized the doctor who they said was found to in his possession prescriptions that included his signature and attestations from his clinic. 

The doctor was referred to the public prosecution.
