Muscat: Dozens of people have been arrested as part of a relentless drive against illegal residents in the country.
A joint team of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and Manpower Ministry raided a residential area in Seeb district of Muscat and arrested 72 people, according to a press release Wednesday.
“This raids are parts of continuous efforts to rid the country of the illegal workforce,” a spokesperson for the police said.
Theft
The illegal residents are thought to be a major sources of criminal activities, including a spate of thefts.
The Asian suspects are now being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The police have urged citizens as well as residents not to give accommodation to people without legal work permit.
