Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of the Interior, on Monday, announced that a wanted terrorist suspect had turned himself in to the police in Riyadh.
“Badr Mohammad Nasser Al Shahri was brought to Saudi Arabia with the help of the Pakistani authorities after he told his relatives that he wanted to surrender to the Saudi authorities,” the Spokesman of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, Major General Mansour Al Turki, said in statement to the Saudi Press. “On receiving the wanted man, the Saudi security authorities let him meet with his relatives, after conducting a routine medical check-up. He was also taken for Umrah.”
The Ministry of the Interior is now asking that all those outside the country, who are wanted for terrorist crimes, realise that they are being taken advantage of and surrender. It also appealed for Al Qaida leaders to turn themselves in.
The spokesman suggested that surrendering would lighten the severity of their punishment.
Badr Al Shahri was born in 1978 in Afghanistan, but later spent time in Bahrain and Iran.
“Badr was recruited by two Al Qaida operatives, Saleh Al Qarawi and Sa’ad Al Shahri, who are also in the list of the wanted militants.They smuggled him to Afghanistan,” a source said.
The latest case of a man surrendering comes just four days after another wanted terrorist Jabir Al Faifi turned himself in.
