Manama: Three teenage brothers have drowned in the Wakra area, on the eastern coast of Qatar.
The brothers, 11, 13 and 15, were with their family at the Abu Fatnass Beach, around 15 kilometres from the capital Doha when they were reportedly pulled from the shore by currents at around 5 pm, local dailies reported on Sunday.
The police, reportedly alerted about the tragic accident by the father, launched a search and rescue operations that included boats, helicopters and divers. The efforts allowed them to find the body of one of the missing brothers late into the evening.
Local Arabic daily Al Raya reported that residents said that the area where the three siblings allegedly drowned was dangerous and that the sea bottom was not level.
