Manama: Qatar's government has moved towards taking more stringent legal action against unruly plane passengers.
"The cabinet issued a draft law amending some provisions of law No. 15 / 2002 on criminalising certain acts of passengers who create trouble on board of planes," Shaikh Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Thani, the state minister for cabinet affairs, said following the weekly cabinet session.
No explanation was put forth by the minister on the reasons for the amendment, but he said that it was made after the cabinet took note of the Advisory Council recommendation, two letters sent by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the penalties prescribed for such acts in some countries.
