Manama: Algerian writer Ahlam Mosteghanemi became the first writer to sign a deal with Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing (BQFP) for the translation of her last publication "Nisyan.Com" into English.

The deal was signed shortly after BQFP was officially launched in London at a reception hosted last week by Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle, England. The event was held at the invitation of the Queen to mark one of several groundbreaking announcements between Qatar Foundation (QF) and British entities.

The work nissyan.com will be the third Arab work to be translated by BQFP after the "American Granddaughter" by Iraqi author Inaam Kachachi and another work by Palestinian author Suad Al Amiri, Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.

Tunis-born Mosteghanemi, 57, welcomed the contract signing with BQFP, sponsored by Shaikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development, and highlighted the use of Arab funds to serve Arab culture beyond the Arab world boundaries.

Ahlam Mosteghanemi, a notable writer, is the first Algerian Arabic-language author whose works are to be translated into English.
