Muscat: The world's largest floating book fair opened at the Salalah Port in Oman on Saturday.
Shaikh Abdullah Bin Saif Al Mahrouqi, Deputy Governor of Dhofar, opened the event, called the Logos Hope's Book Fair.
Khalid Bin Musallam Al Rowas Director General of the Directorate General of Tourism in Dhofar Governorate said that the vessel, which includes 400 volunteers representing 50 different nationalities, will anchor at the Sultan Qaboos Port from January 15-19.
According to an officer on board Ship Logos Hope, which started its first journey in 1970, the unique mission of the ship is to enhance cultural exchange and understanding between world peoples through its floating book fair.
The opening ceremony included a visual presentation on the vessels including its history, journeys and the ports it has visited.
It also included the peoples columns parade of the crew in their traditional costumes.
