Muscat: In a horrific accident, a teenager driving without a licence, and two of his schoolmates were burnt to death following a car crash on Saturday in Ibri, northwest of Muscat.

“All the three occupants were burnt alive after their car collided head-on with another,” a spokesman for the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Public Relations department said on Sunday.

The three occupants of the other car involved in the accident were seriously injured and admitted to a hospital.

The eleventh grade victims were identified as Mazan Nazwani, Ahmad Al Esmaili and Ahmad A Mujurfi.

The police spokesman urged parents to monitor their children. “Parents should not allow their children to use their vehicles without a valid driving licence."

He said that the accident was caused when the driver tried to overtake a vehicle and in the process collided with another car.

“The impact caused the fire, in which the car was completely burnt before Civil Defence teams could put it out,” he added.
